Amazon has just released its newest members in Kindle family: Kindle Fire HD and Kindle Paperwhite. To me, the Kindle Fire HD is much more attractive than Paperwhite version, so I decided to make a Kindle Fire HD review first. The review will focus on two main things: New features and The Price.
Kindle Fire HD Review - New Features
First, let’s take a look at the picture below. Here we come, the Kindle Fire HD:
Kindle Fire HD is just like a brand new device. It’s much lighter and thinner. The corners are made rounded reminds us of Nexus 7 from Google. When you have a chance to hold this device, you will feel the comfort it brings along with high quality and smoother user interface.
Powered up with OMAP 4470, Kindle Fire HD is much faster than its brother. Amazon claimed that OMAP 4470 is even faster than Tegra 3 from Apple. I didn’t have time to compare between the two devices, but the performance of Kindle Fire HD is definitely awesome.

Kindle Fire HD has two version: 7 inch and 8.9 inch with 1920×1200 display. Most importantly, you would only pay $40 more than the old version. These awesome features don’t stop at that. Amazon also brings Dolby Digital technology (there are two speakers on both sides of the device, so you can turn into landscape mode and enjoy the movie without annoying headphones) as well as MiMo Wifi (a new technology to speed up and make browsing through Wifi much faster).
To compare between old and new Wifi technology, Amazon has provided a chart as showed below:
It’s 54% faster and Google tablet and 41% faster than iPad 3.
For parents who want to buy a Kindle for their children but are still afraid of bad impact on this device (like Game addiction or Web surfing), Amazon has created Free Time application. You can control how much your children play game and surf web. For example, they have only 30 minutes to enjoy their favorite game every day, the rest time is for reading only.
It’s awesome, and it’s definitely one step further their competition for parents to control their children.
Kindle Fire HD Review - Beyond The Hardwares
When Bezos, the founder of Amazon, revealed the new tablet, he stated out very clearly that
We want to make money when people use our devices, not when they buy our devices
In this tablet battle, Amazon has a secret weapon: their service. When you buy Kindle, you will have access to their largest online library with thousands of ebooks, apps, TV shows, Movies and much more in Amazon Prime. The experiences are awesome, and since Amazon has built their stunning database over years, you won’t miss any popular trends in entertainment. Moreover, when you joined Amazon Prime, you will get free shipping for a WHOLE YEAR at only $79 per year.
Think about how much you can save for a WHOLE YEAR ultilizing this service.

Kindle Fire HD Review - My Favorite Part: The Price
After learning about new features of Kindle Fire HD, how much do you expect this device is going to cost?
$600? $500? or $300?
The answer is shocking: only $199 for the 7-inch version.
Yes, with only $200, you can get this tablet and with another small invest of $79, you can access to the top videos, books and apps on the world.
Amazon pricing strategy is simple: Keep the price of the hardware low and gain more money by selling their service. But it WORKED! (if not perfectly).
If you order a Kindle Fire HD today after reading our review, you’ll have your new tablet delivered by September 20.
